Small business week 2007
Monday 29th - Friday 2nd NovemberMonday 29th October sees the launch of Small Business Week 2007, a week-long campaign dedicated to championing the 4.5 million-plus small enterprises in the UK. The week, which will begin with a launch event at BT Tower, brings together small businesses from across the country, regional influencers and media, will examine the triggers and barriers to long-term success for the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) community.
Small business week 2007 aims to highlight the importance of this ector to the UK economy, share perspectives on the state of the UK's small business sector, and will explore what SME's need in order to meet the challenges they face. A number of independant, Government and commercial organisations will work together throughout the week to offer advice and support and a platform for small businesses – be they start-ups, home-based businesses or established, growing enterprises. BT Business are partnering with the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), Royal Bank of Scotland and EveryWoman to deliver Small Business Week.
On launch day, 29th October, BT Business will release the first in its series of Better Business podcasts and web seminars, looking at how small businesses can maximise the benefits that technology can offer, from starting up and beyond, providing advice and guidance for aspiring business start-ups and identifying the tools required to break down the barriers to starting a business. Day two will be flexible working day where we will draw upon the experience we have in both operating successful flexible working policies across BT, as well as our track record in helping SMEs run their businesses anytime, anywhere. Wednesday is Green Day and will address how businesses can answer the green challenge in a way that is both environmentally responsible and enhances productivity and profitability. On Thursday, we will explore how businesses can truly harness the potential of the web to compete effectively regardless of size of location, by creating the right presence and connecting with virtual communities. The final day of Small Business Week will examine how women are thriving in business, examining this trend and looking specifically at the emergence of home-based businesses and their unique needs.
